Below is an extract from the Report on the in-house market in Italy:

In January 2021 we noticed the job market change almost overnight. As the overall mood was improving and the economy recovering massively, corporates started hiring again with great eager. In most cases the requirements were for new headcount, confirming a need to strengthen existing legal department structures. The pandemic has accelerated the market requirements for the In-house Counsel of the future: the “O” shaped lawyer. A C-suite executive, that is involved in strategy, growth, crisis management, risk assessment, GDPR and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) but also has communication skills. We expect the post pandemic lawyer will need to be agile and more “human”: agile because they will need to quickly adapt the frequent changes in business models and business strategies and more “human” as they will need to care for their team, their colleagues and watch out on their well-being; they will need to adapt their working style to remote working, flexible working hours and to their colleagues needs.

Below is an extract from the Report on the in-house market in France:

In France, like in most European countries, 2021 has witnessed a busy job market. Legal departments are shifting from being more generalist to more structured in terms of departments and replicating the legal department of law firms. The IT sector has been particularly busy as corporates across several industries have been adapting to the digital requirements imposed by the new market trends. Well-being is also becoming an important element and corporates who do not have a good reputation on the market have found it difficult to hire and retain talent.
